Weymouth, MA - Newton resident Claire Y. Fung, M.D., Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Commonwealth Atrius Cancer Center in Weymouth, recently received the distinction of being named a best doctor in her field for 2009 to 2010. Dr. Fung was selected as one of the “Best Doctors in America” for Radiation Oncology for the third time.

Dr. Fung’s citation, compiled by Boston-based Best Doctors, Inc., is derived from a peer-reviewed survey of more than 45,000 physicians in the United States. This survey asked which specialists they would choose for care of themselves or a loved one. Only those doctors recognized in the top 5% of their specialty earn this honor.

Dr. Fung is board-certified in Radiation Oncology and holds staff appointments at South Shore Hospital, Quincy Medical Center, Jordan Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Fung also serves as the Vice President of Radiation Oncology at Commonwealth Hematology-Oncology, the largest community-based private cancer care group in New England. Dr. Fung received her M.D., cum laude, from Harvard Medical School, and her M.S. and B.S., summa cum laude, in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University.
